Gears of the Human Engine
eyes wide with the quiet ache of turning wheels. Cogs of cobalt and amber interlock, each tooth a heartbeat, each revolution a sigh, humanity threaded through the lattice of machines, veins of copper carrying dreams to the furnace sky. They stand elongated, solemn as saints in a factory nave, skin brushed by steam, hair caught in the whisper of pistons. Some gaze outward, searching for sky beyond the smoke, others inward, where the spark of soul meshes with spark of iron. Here, flesh and forge are lovers entwined, a tender, relentless dance of creation and cost, the soft curve of a cheek against the cold arc of a gear, the pulse of blood echoing the pulse of industry. We are the ghosts in the machine, and the machine is the ghost in us, forever turning, forever yearning, in the bright, inexorable hymn of making.
